Von - Satanic Blood Angel

Von is a Black Metal band, or seemingly the Black Metal band that revolutionized the genre. If it wasn't for Von, Black Metal music would probably not even exist as of today.

Everything about Von is legendary, as they have grandly influenced the second wave of Black Metal.

The Black Metal band Von is not only one of the most inspiring Heavy Metal bands, it is also the defining one. From 1988 to early 1992, Von has released several demos which were latter regrouped in a compilation album, Satanic Blood Angel.

The first eight tracks come from the demo Satanic Blood, while the six others come from Blood Angel. Additionally, in the 2003 reissue figures a second CD, in which are present twelve tracks from Live in San Fransisco, one of the rare live performances from the legendary band Von.

This is not only true second wave Black Metal in all its forms, this is the definitive Black Metal album. Satanic Blood Angel is an unparalleled compilation of grim desolation, bearing some feelings that are too obscure for anyone to relate to, much less to welcome.

This album is both grim and majestic, raw and beautiful, macabre and painful. Words cannot express the chilling malevolent feel you get while listening to tracks like Veadtuck, Lamb or Christ Fire. Satanic Blood Angel is clearly one of the darkest masterpieces of Heavy Metal music, quietly lugubrious and brilliantly demented.

Anyone immersed in the modern Black Metal scene will undoubtedly notice that all true Black Metal strives not only to sound like this, but is also completely inspired by this art.

Psychotic and evil, Satanic Blood Angel has gained a small yet loyal following amongst the underground Black Metal scene.
Reluctant to approach the mainstream, Von has toured only very few times, and the live compilation included in this album is a rarity.
