Von - Black Metal Band

Formed in 1988, Von is the first second wave Black Metal band and is widely acknowledged and acclaimed as the most influential band of all times. They have played over the years a very minimalist and evil style of Black Metal music, releasing several albums and demos.

Their aesthetic musical inspirations would later become a landmark for the second wave of Black Metal, and while Von have remained relatively and underground Black Metal band, their style would become a Heavy Metal genre in itself.

The whole second wave scene is based on the early work of Von, producing what would have seemed obnoxious and fake if released before the emerging of Von.

Von has always played the most minimalist Black Metal possible, especially in their early releases, while the reformed Von mix both extreme nihilism and some technical aspects. The results were a very atmospheric, catchy and hypnotic sounding creating the whole purpose of evil and atmospheric music, which is so clutched upon in the second wave.

Beyond the musical aspect, Von were the defining band for the entire Black Metal scene. A vast majority of the elements displayed in modern Black Metal come from the visionary band Von.
Elements as the satanic lyrics and imagery, the mystical atmospheres, the blast-beats, the raw production would of seemed arrogant at best if it wasn't for the participation of Von.

The early Von have produced several albums and compilations, notably the renown Satanic Blood Angel, which was featured at third position in the notorious best 15 black metal albums list.

Musically, Von is above Black Metal, it is simply brilliantly raw tribal atmosphere, that were latter to define a Heavy Metal genre in itself.
